Pat McAfee Predicts Second Massive Upset in a Row For Legendary Program

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish were left shocked following a Week 2 home loss to the Northern Illinois Huskies, along with the rest of the college football landscape. The Fighting Irish were the most likely team to finish the season undefeated according to ESPN ahead of Week 2, but clearly, that's no longer the case.

They have an opportunity to bounce back against the Purdue Boilermakers in Week 3, but "College GameDay" co-host Pat McAfee feels like they're in for a rude awakening when they travel to Ross-Ade Stadium.

"Purdue, Purdue, Purdue," McAfee said. "I'm taking Purdue, yeah I think so. Reily Leonard, we'll see what happens. I'm taking Purdue."

McAfee was the only member of the "College GameDay" panel to put his faith in the Boilermakers as they face a Fighting Irish squad that desperately needs a bounce-back win. Purdue might have an advantage on defense as one of only two college football programs that have yet to allow a point in the 2024 season.

Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard comes into the contest with an injured non-throwing shoulder as well, which could help the Purdue defense.

The Fighting Irish looked to avoid a shocking 1-2 start to the season against the Boilermakers. Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday, September 14 at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
