Head coach Steve Sarkisian and his second ranked Texas Longhorns received major news before their tilt against UTSA on Saturday. Top running back Jaydon Blue was officially ruled out with an undisclosed injury.

Blue has rushed 20 times for the Longhorns in their first two wins over Colorado State and Michigan. He has picked up 79 yards on the ground, and has another 9 receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown.

This bad news follows the loss of Christian Clark in mid-August to an Achilles Tendon injury and C.J. Baxter, out for the season after undergoing knee surgery.

Blue played in 23 games before this season and was a large part of the offense in the College Football Playoff Semifinal loss to Washington last season. In his place will be Quintrevion Wisner and Jerrick Gibson. Gibson has 20 rushing attempts so far this season for 103 yards and two touchdowns. Wisner has run the ball 13 times for 52 yards and a touchdown.

The Longhorns as a team are averaging 166.5 yards per game on the ground. The offense is scoring more than 41 points per game, which ranks 25th in all of college football.

Texas is taking on the Roadrunners of UTSA. The Roadrunners are 1-1 on the season but are coming off a blowout loss on the road at Texas State last week. For the Longhorns, this is the first of three straight home games. Next week, they will host Louisiana-Monroe before starting SEC play on September 28th against Mississippi State.
