Dan Orlovsky Drops ‘Jarring’ Take Over College Football Program’s Decline

The Florida Gators are one of the historic programs in college football. However, things have been much different lately.

The days of Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer running the show are long gone, and the Gators have had Will Muschamp, Jim McElwain, Dan Mullen, and now Billy Napier (with a few other interims).

Suddenly, Napier is on the hot seat after a 1-2 start to the year and a poor performance against both Miami (FL) and Texas A&M.

Napier's seat is as hot as it has ever been.

Former NFL quarterback and current analyst Dan Orlovsky had quite the take on Florida in Week 3.

"I honestly was rooting for and believed Napier would do really well at Florida," Orlovsky wrote on X. "Its jarring to see week in and week out them outplayed"

It has been an unfortunate turn of events for the Gators.

In 2018 and 2019, Dan Mullen led them to back-to-back double-digit win seasons with victories in the Peach Bowl and Orange Bowl.

Mullen would eventually be fired in 2021 after going 5-6 that season only for Florida to hire Billy Napier.

Napier is now in his third season, and the Gators went 6-7 and 5-7, respectively, in the first two campaigns.

In 2024, Florida is now 1-2, with the lone victory coming against Samford.

It's safe to say things have hit rock bottom for the Gators, and with Napier's seat burning hot, perhaps another coaching change could be in the works.

I had faith and kept saying that 2024 is going to be his year. Most of the players on the roster are his now. Boy, was I wrong. Time to hit the reset button.....and fast!

Napier wasn't "suddenly" on the hot seat. He's been on it for a while.
