Tua Tagovailoa Makes Final Decision On Retirement

Fans and media members calling for Tua Tagovailoa to retire better not be holding their breath.

According to a Sunday morning report from NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, Tagovailoa is said to have "no plans to retire." The Miami Dolphins quarterback is reportedly consulting with several concussion specialists but remains without a timetable for a return. Tua and his doctors will ultimately have the final call on when the QB is ready to come back.

Tagovailoa suffered a concussion Thursday after taking a blow to the head in the third quarter of the Dolphins' Week 2 contest against the Buffalo Bills. It was Tagovailoa's third major head injury over the last two years.

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel has echoed what a lot of fans have said online: Tagovailoa needs to think about his family first before football.

But for a football lifer like Tagovailoa, it's understandably difficult to walk away from the game you love without the decision being on his own terms.

There's also the matter of the insane amount of money Tagovailoa would be walking away from if he chooses to retire.

If the 26-year-old gets medical clearance but still opts to retire, the guarantees on his current contract would no longer apply.
