Return Date for Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love Revealed

After initially fearing the worst when quarterback Jordan love went down with a knee injury in the team’s 34-29 season-opening loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil last week, the Green Bay Packers appear to be much more optimistic heading into Week 2.

Malik Willis will start Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts at Lambeau Field, but according to the latest update from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Willis won’t be the starter for long as Love already has a date targeted to return.

“My understanding is that he is targeting Week 5, which is Oct. 6 against his hometown team growing up, the Los Angeles Rams,” Rapoport said on “NFL Game Day.” “The injury is not quite as bad as they originally thought. If he only misses three games, which is what this will be — excellent, excellent outcome for the Green Bay Packers.”

Willis has started just three games in his career, going 1-2 as a rookie with the Tennessee Titans in 2022.

If the Packers are without Love for the next three games, he’ll miss matchups with the Colts, Tennessee Titans and Minnesota Vikings; the latter two are still winnable games even without Love.

After several slow-motion videos of Love’s injury surfaced on social media last week, many feared the 25-year-old QB suffered either an ACL tear or a kneecap dislocation, but an MRI revealed Love was dealing with an non-season-ending MCL sprain.

Is the best-case scenario plays out and Love does return in Week 5, he will miss just one division game and return in time for both grudge matches against the Detroit Lions plus key non-division games against the Rams, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks.
