Panthers Issued Warning Over Bryce Young During Dismal Week 2 Blowout

The Carolina Panthers might be forced to make a tough choice with quarterback Bryce Young sooner than later.

Young has struggled mightily to open up his second season with the Panthers. Carolina dropped its opener 47-10 to the New Orleans Saints. Young passed for 161 yards and two interceptions in that loss and finished with the lowest QBR in the NFL (12.3).

It didn't get any better to start Week 2. Young was 8 of 10 against the Los Angeles Chargers in the first half but recorded just 22 yards and one interception.

The Panthers couldn't turn things around in the second half, falling to the Chargers 26-3. Young finished with 84 yards and an interception. The Panthers managed just 159 yards of total offense.

Young's poor play generated a harsh warning from Panthers beat reporter Joe Person of The Athletic.

"If Dave Canales keeps playing Bryce Young, he risks alienating the locker room and the fan base — and further bludgeoning Young's confidence," Person wrote on X .

The decision to bench Young is not one Carolina will take lightly. The Panthers gave up a treasure trove of assets to move up and grab Young in the draft. Carolina sent the Chicago Bears a pair of first-round picks (including No. 9 overall in 2023 and No. 1 this season), a pair of second-round picks and wide receiver DJ Moore for the No. 1 overall pick.

As a rookie, Young passed for 2,877 yards, 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, finishing with a quarterback rating of 73.7. Carolina finished a 2-15 record — the worst in the NFL.

It truly amazes me how you can pick a great player then get rid of him not producing then trade him and he excels with the new team this has happened many times makes one question 1. The owner, 2. The coaching staff and perhaps 3.the players All I can say something is rotten in Denmark
