The Indiana Fever want to get back in the win column when they face the Dallas Wings on September 15. After two consecutive losses to the Las Vegas Aces, the Fever need a victory on Sunday to secure the No. 6 seed in the playoffs.

Fever rookie Caitlin Clark, who had uncharacteristically slow start against the Aces on Friday, bounced back big time in the second half. She nearly recorded her third triple-double with 18 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 9.0 assists.

During the Fever's 78-74 loss to the WNBA champs, Clark shattered the single-season record assist record (317) midway through the second quarter. The No. 1 overall pick, who already broke the WNBA record for most assists in a single game (19), leads the league in average assists (8.4).

Before tipoff against the Wings at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the Fever announced that Clark, who leads all rookies in average scoring (19.1), broke another WNBA record.

Heading into Indiana's penultimate game of the regular season, the Fever revealed that Clark set a new league record for most double-digit games by a rookie with "34 and counting."

The frontrunner to become the WNBA's Rookie of the Year extended her own record early on against the Wings, as Clark headed into halftime with 15 points. And that's not all.

During the third quarter, the Fever announced that Clark broke the rookie single-season scoring record (746 points), a title held by Seimone Augustus for 18 years.

"I think everybody's just kind of raising their game," Clark told reporters on Friday. "The competition's just getting better and better, and it's fun as a competitor to show up in this league every night and know you have to bring your best, because whoever's on the other side of the court from you, they're going to bring their best, and that's what makes it fun."

2024 will not only be the year that a Japanese man blew away American baseball but an American woman blew away American basketball.
