Sunday Slate Shows Eagles Must Be Prepared for Falcons

The Philadelphia Eagles didn't play on Sunday, but that doesn't mean there wasn't a lesson to learn for the organization going forward.

In fact, more than any other week, one main lesson should be taken away by the Birds going into their Monday Night Football contest against the Atlanta Falcons.

No one is safe from an upset early in the season.

Whether it was the Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions, or Jacksonville Jaguars, some of the top teams across the league lost in Week 2 to perceived lesser opponents.

Turnovers, coaching mistakes, and sloppy play were the main reasons why these playoff-contending teams fell either at home or to lesser teams.

The Eagles are favored against a solid Falcons team, but it would be considered an upset if Philadelphia can't win their home opener.

Especially after all the rest of the top conference teams fell across the board in the division. Philadelphia won't be able to take Kirk Cousins and the Falcons for granted early on.

Coming off a season in which they lost the final six of seven games, the Birds cannot afford a slow start to the season. A 1-1 start wouldn't necessarily be slow, but it would show that the team learned nothing from a Sunday full of upsets.

And it simply wouldn't be acceptable for this roster.
