NFL Fans Used One Word to Describe Jackson Mahomes’ Post Before Chiefs-Bengals

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs to one of his prototypical comeback victories in Week 2. Meanwhile, his brother, Jackson Mahomes, received attention for what he typically does best -- posts on social media.

But on September 15, Jackson's post was not nearly as well received as Patrick's late-game heroics.

Prior to the Chiefs showdown with the Cincinnati Bengals, Jackson posted a picture of himself on the sideline on Instagram. In the photo, Jackson was wearing a plain white shirt with long brown pants. He also sported a chain necklace.

In the picture, Jackson posed with his right hand holding up the belt line on his pants. As a caption to the post, Jackson wrote , "Let's get it. #chiefskingdom."

While a few fans liked Jackson's apparent swagger, there were more Instagram users not a fan. Many of them included the word "cringe" in the comment section on the post.

The social media backlash to Jackson's September 15 post comes six months after he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of battery, according to online court records . He was sentenced to six months probation in the case that alleged he grabbed a woman by the neck and kissed her against her will.

Even before that incident, Jackson, similar to Patrick's wife, Brittany Mahomes, was a polarizing figure on social media. One of the biggest criticisms he has received online is the fact that he is famous only because of his older brother.

The online reaction to Jackson, though, is unlikely to phase Patrick. The quarterback led the Chiefs on a game-winning field goal drive in the final minute of the fourth quarter to defeat the Bengals 26-25 in Week 2.
