NFL Fans in Disbelief Over Referee's Insane Speed During 97-Yard Touchdown

The Minnesota Vikings pulled off a 23-17 upset of the reigning NFC champion San Francisco 49ers in Week 2, improving to 2-0 on the season.

The game was highlighted by a 97-yard touchdown by Vikings star Justin Jefferson midway through the second quarter. The NFL's highest-paid wide receiver got behind the 49ers secondary and evaded multiple defenders for the final 45 yards before the end zone.

The touchdown was the longest of the 2024 NFL regular season through two weeks.

After the play, a few fans on social media caught something that may have gone unnoticed by many casual viewers: The referee's blazing foot speed.

In one viral video with over six million views, a 49ers fan wrote, "The ref was moving faster than our safeties good lord lol."

"Idk how I didn’t notice this but bro look at the ref running 4.2 40 speed," another added . "Yo actually get this dude a contract LMFAO."

"Tell bro to throw on a jersey and pick up some coverage," wrote another fan.

Jefferson finished the day as the game's leading receiver, catching four passes for 133 yards and the touchdown. Minnesota is set to face the Houston Texans (2-0) at home in Week 3.
