Paul Finebaum Names College Football Powerhouse That Is 'Hard To Believe In'

The Oklahoma Sooners have had a slow beginning to their first season in the SEC. On one hand, the Sooners are 3-0, but on the other hand, they haven't looked impressive during the process.

Oklahoma's primary concern has been its offense, which has been its strength for the past decade. Currently, the Sooners rank 108th in total offense, 67th in rushing offense and 114th in passing offense. The team has also been affected by injuries, with three starting offensive linemen and four of its top five receivers sidelined.

ESPN's Paul Finebaum appeared on "The Matt Barrie Show" and expressed skepticism about the current state of the Sooners.

"It's hard to believe in Oklahoma right now," Finebaum said. "They get the "GameDay" bus, which, by the way, hasn't been good luck."

Finebaum is referring to "College GameDay" heading to Norman this weekend. The Sooners will take on the red-hot Tennessee Volunteers in their first SEC game, featuring two of the best units in the sport going head-to-head.

The Volunteers' offense is ranked No. 2 in total offense, No. 3 in rushing offense, and No. 1 in scoring offense at 63.7 points per game. Oklahoma's defense is ranked No. 27 in total defense, No. 22 in rushing defense, and No. 23 in scoring defense.

The Sooners are facing a challenge because their offense has been struggling, and Tennessee's defense is currently ranked No. 2 in total defense, playing at an elite level. While Oklahoma's defense may be able to hold its own, there are concerns about whether the Sooners offense can do the same. That's why people like Finebaum have little faith in the Sooners going forward.
