Rex Ryan's Embarrassingly Wrong NFL Prediction Has Fans Saying the Same Thing

Former NFL head coach and current ESPN analyst Rex Ryan is down bad for a prediction he made ahead of Sunday's Week 2 action.

Appearing on "Sunday NFL Countdown," Ryan and the crew began making their game picks for the Indianapolis Colts vs. Green Bay Packers.

The Packers, who started backup Malik Willis at quarterback with Jordan Love nursing a sprained MCL injury, pulled out a 16-10 win as the 25-year-old completed 12-of-14 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown. His efficient performance also included 41 rushing yards.

Prior to the game, Ryan predicted the Colts to win, solely because of his opinion of Willis.

"Well, unfortunately, I've seen this Malik Willis play in the NFL, and no way in hell am I taking him," Ryan said. "I'm gonna take the Colts."

Fans let Ryan hear it in the social media comments afterward, many suggesting the same thing.

"Malik Willis passer rating: 126.8" one commenter wrote . "Rex Ryan demonstrating why he's sitting in a studio rather than standing on a field."

"We’ve seen you coach in the NFL, and that’s why you’re unemployed 🤡" another added .

"Primarily why Rex is a blowhard 'pundit' and not on the sideline," said one fan.

"That's why Rex is eating pizza in Bristol, Conn. instead of on the Buffalo charter after another loss," remarked another.

Willis was originally drafted in the third round by the Tennessee Titans in 2022, but was traded to the Packers on August 26, just 20 days before his fourth-career NFL start.

Ryan, 61, last coached in the NFL in 2016 with the Buffalo Bills. The defensive-minded specialist spent 10 years with the Baltimore Ravens, rising up to assistant head coach by 2008.

He then entered the head coaching ranks, first with the New York Jets from 2009-14 before leading the Bills for two seasons in 2015-16.
