Chicago Bulls Could Land Portland Trail Blazers Star in Blockbuster 5-Team Trade

The Chicago Bulls find themselves in a tricky situation right now. They have already parted ways with two of their most important players - DeMar DeRozan and Alex Caruso.

But, they cannot fully embrace their rebuild until they also part ways with former All-Stars, Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic.

That is easier said than done. LaVine's recent injury problems and massive contract, $138 million over the next three seasons, mean that it will be very difficult to find him a new home.

On the other hand, there does not seem to be much trade interest in Vucevic either. The 33-year-old, whose game has been on the decline for a while, is entering the second season of a three-year, $60 million contract with the Bulls.

A blockbuster 5-team trade idea has been proposed, also involving the Atlanta Hawks, New Orleans Pelicans, Portland Trail Blazers, and Charlotte Hornets, which would see the Bulls part with LaVine and Vucevic while also landing some interesting players and a pick.

According to Fran Leiva on FadeAway World , the proposed trade would see the Bulls would receive Deandre Ayton, Grant Williams, Josh Green and 2026 First-Round Pick (via Pelicans). The Hawks receive Brandon Ingram while the Pelicans receive LaVine, Vucevic and 2025 First-Round Pick (via Hawks). The Trail Blazers receive De’Andre Hunter, Larry Nance Jr. and 2027 First-Round Pick (via Bulls). The Hornets receive CJ McCollum.

For the Bulls, Ayton would be the headline addition for sure while Williams and Green are solid talents as well. The 2026 first-round pick would also give them further assets for their long-term growth.

Leiva wrote: "For the Bulls, this trade represents a significant shift. After a disappointing 2023-24 season, where they were stuck in the middle of the Eastern Conference, this deal provides the flexibility to develop their younger players while staying competitive. The addition of Ayton, Williams, and Green gives the Bulls a solid foundation to build on, with the 2026 first-round pick offering further assets for their long-term growth. This trade could mark the beginning of a more sustainable path for the Bulls as they aim to build a team capable of competing in the Eastern Conference for years to come."

Of course, pulling off a trade of this magnitude would be pretty difficult and a lot of pieces would need to fall in place for it to happen.
