Reggie Jackson was in a challenging situation at a crucial juncture in his career. His former team, the Pistons, decided to waive him at the trade deadline in 2020. The 34-year-old contemplated retiring but had Paul George and the Clippers to his rescue.

Jackson signed a one-year contract with the Clippers, looking for a fresh start. Playing as the second unit, the 6-foot-2 guard was a significant boost on offense, possessing a high-scoring ability. The Pistons veteran was a three-level scorer with clutch and impressive playmaking abilities.

Come 2021, Jackson would reap dividends for the LAC, who would clinch their first WCF. His contributions alongside PG and Terance Mann couldn't be ignored, especially since Kawhi Leonard sat out due to an ACL tear. Promoted to the starting lineup during the playoffs, Reggie averaged 17.8 PPG on 40% shooting from beyond the arc.

Jackson remains indebted to the LAC for life

The Clippers will always hold a special place for Jackson, considering the team gave his career a second life. None of this could have happened without PG's role as catalyst; the nine-time All-Star was influential in getting his close friend onboard.

Nonetheless, Jackson never shies away from crediting the Clippers for a new start. During a media interaction sometime at the end of last year, the 24th pick in the 2011 draft voiced his gratitude towards the franchise based out of LA, saying the following :

"I (Reggie Jackson) look back to an organization that saved me. A group of guys who continued to stick with me. PG called me back. I wouldn't be here without him and many guys I played with in the locker room."

We've seen Jackson mention how PG saved him when he considered retiring from the hardwood.

Jackson advised young hoopers on self-belief

In 2022, Reggie and former teammate PG visited the latter's youth summer camp. Jackson gave the campers an example of wisdom.

"It started making me question myself (late in Detroit tenure). Don't let anybody ever do this to you; take the fun out of the things you love to do. I was going to retire. My lifeline, my brother here, saved me."

Signing with the Nuggets in 2023, Jackson would clinch his first NBA championship, accounting for one of the greatest comeback stories.
