Bengals Facing Backlash for Actions Over Controversial Video

Former Cincinnati Bengals punter Drue Chrisman is in the team's crosshairs after another controversial social media video.

The 27-year-old NFL free agent's viral videos have made waves in recent weeks following an unsuccessful August tryout with the Washington Commanders.

Chrisman never complied with Washington's legal team's request to remove a video showing sensitive areas in and around the team's facilities.

Now, while working as media for Spectrum News 1 Cincinnati for the Bengals' Week 1 home opener on September 8, Chrisman filmed another day-in-the-life video that captured various behind-the-scenes areas of Paycor Stadium, seemingly posing similar safety concerns.

On Sunday, September 15, Chrisman shared a text message screenshot with a Spectrum News representative asking him to take down any posts "showing all the behind the scenes stuff. (Bengals) security people don't want to give any one any ideas."

The NFL and Bengals came under immediate backlash from fans in the comments defending Chrisman, who has claimed he was cut 10 times by the organization between 2020-23.

"No one is sneaking in 🤣🤣 They’re so soft," one fan wrote .

"If the @NFL security is so weak that someone could sneak in based on what you posted, that’s an NFL issue not a Drue issue," another echoed .

"Treating a former player like this is just sad," said another.

"Seriously what is wrong with the @NFL my guy didn't do anything wrong yall bunch of children," a fan remarked .

After the Spectrum rep suggested the Bengals may have been withholding credentials for the outlet's photographer for the Week 2 game in Kansas City , Chrisman seemingly quit his role with Spectrum over text.

"This might not be a good fit for me anymore because I'm not taking anything down," Chrisman wrote, via the screenshot posted to X. "Best of luck and đź–•Kansas City."
