NFL Insider Hints at Upcoming Punishment for Ja'Marr Chase

The Cincinnati Bengals lost Sunday's Week 2 matchup to the Kansas City Chiefs on a walk-off field goal. Now, star wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase stands to lose something of his own.

With 10 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Chase was involved in an incident with seventh-year referee Alex Kemp after a perceived missed facemask penalty on a five-yard catch.

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was forced to step in and restrain his No. 1 pass catcher, who earned himself a 15-yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.

On Monday, September 16, NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero hinted at the punishment that is looming for the 24-year-old Bengals wideout.

"Ja'Marr Chase will likely be fined for this incident as well," Pelissero wrote on X, but he added no indication of a suspension under consideration.

In the postgame pool report , Kemp revealed that the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Chase was the result of "abusive language toward a game official."

Per Pelissero, the NFL Referees Association stood behind the handling of the matter.

"The situation was well handled by Alex Kemp, and it was the appropriate response," said NFLRA executive director Scott Green.

The NFL announced its Week 1 fines on Saturday, September 14, so the Chase situation should come to a conclusion in the next five days.

The Bengals, who have opened the season 0-2, will host Monday Night Football against the Washington Commanders (1-1) in Week 3.

Suspend him for a game. He looked like a spoiled brat just as he has during his holdout, etc

Good, he deserves a hefty fine as well as the Bengals organization.
