The Florida State Seminoles are being discussed heavily after their 0-3 start to the season. The Mississippi State Bulldogs, Florida Gators, Wake Forest Demon Deacons and Kentucky Wildcats are all 1-2 to start the year.

Florida suffered another loss in Week 3 to the Texas A&M Aggies, who dominated most of the game and won 33-20. Florida went into halftime down 20-0 and only got to score in the second half.

Greg McElroy weighed in on Billy Napier's chances of being retained at Florida on a recent " Always College Football " episode. Napier has not had a winning season since taking the Florida job in 2022.

McElroy predicted that the Napier era in Gainesville would end in 2024 "barring something completely unseen."

"...It feels like it's over, doesn't it? McElroy said. "I mean, it feels like it's over, barring something completely unforeseen. I personally didn't expect them to beat Miami. I thought they really needed this one. I thought they could get this one, and to have a half-hearted performance that was mistake-filled has to be incredibly frustrating. But man, Florida, just a disappointing start to the season, and it appears like Billy Napier, this will be his final year."

After starting former five-star quarterback DJ Lagway against Samford, Napier opted to start Graham Mertz against Texas A&M. Per the On3 Industry Rankings , Lagway was the top quarterback prospect in the 2024 class.

Mertz finished the game with 195 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception. Mertz also lost a fumble in the game. Lagway made an appearance but was not too much better. Lagway had 54 yards passing, one touchdown and two interceptions.

Florida can get back to .500 against Mississippi State in Week 4. Kickoff is on Sept. 21 at noon ET via ESPN.
