Greg McElroy Names 'Most Stressful' Team In College Football

ESPN college football analyst Greg McElroy reviewed the Week 3 slate on his podcast, "Always College Football." While he spoke about some of the biggest winners and losers of the week, McElroy also mentioned that one team has been extremely stressful.

At the beginning of the podcast, McElroy commented on the weekend's biggest games, such as Georgia at Kentucky and Alabama at Wisconsin.

After sharing some insight on a few Top 10 teams, McElroy focused his discussion on a team that's 3-0 but has been playing with fire as of late.

McElroy marked the Pittsburgh Panthers in the ACC as the "most stressful" team in college football.

The West Virginia Mountaineers were leading Pitt 34-24 with just over three minutes left to play in the fourth quarter in Week 3.

A marvelous fourth-quarter performance from the Panthers' offense, behind quarterback Eli Holstein, led the team to their third straight win.

"You got Pitt, who are the most stressful team on Earth; the cardiac Panthers," McElroy said. "Double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter of the second consecutive game."

After a solid defensive showing, with two mimes left in the game against West Virginia, Pitt was down 34-31. Holstein led the Panthers downfield, helping secure a 38-34 victory for Pitt.

In Week 2, the Panthers had a similar showing. They were down double-digits to the Cincinnati Bearcats in the fourth quarter of their first road game of the season. After clawing back, Pitt secured a slim 28-27 victory.

The Panthers have been riding the success of Holstein all season. Holstein started his career with the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2023. After his freshman season in Tuscaloosa, the young signal-caller transferred to Pitt, and the rest is history.

During the 2024 college football season, Holstein has produced nine touchdowns and 936 yards with a 67.9 completion percentage in three games.

McElroy may be right about the stress Holstein and company have brought to fans, but they find a way to keep winning each and every week.
