Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders Under Fire After Earning National Honor

Shedeur Sanders helped lead Colorado to a convincing 28-9 victory over rival Colorado State on Saturday, earning him a spot on the Davey O’Brien Award’s Great 8 for Week 3.

The list recognizes great quarterback play in college football. This week, the committee doubled down on its selections, highlighting 16 quarterbacks , including Sanders.

Sanders was on the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award preseason watchlist and can add another feather to his cap with the weekly honor. Sanders passed for 310 yards and four touchdowns against the Rams.

His play on the field was certainly worthy of the honor but some took exception with the Colorado star's postgame antics. He refused to shake the hand of Colorado State quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi after the game.

“You were talking s--t on Instagram,” Sanders said in a video of the exchange. “Talking on Instagram. We handled our business. You can’t f--k with me.”

That didn't sit well with some fans, who commented under the post of Sanders' latest honor.

"Played an amazing game to only act classless and unprofessional at end of the game," one fan said . "Come on man, be better than that."

"Coach is about as classless as his boy. What a shame and an embarrassment for Colorado football nation," another fan said . "Colorado will be known for the college that was Deion Sanders last stop. Fa fa fa fade away!"

Others have also questioned if Sanders' actions off the field could potentially sink his draft stock. He's currently projected to be one of the first passers off the board in next year's draft.

"Call me a boomer or whatever but this dude is not going in the first round ," Brett Kollmann of The Film Room wrote on X.

Sanders and Colorado will look to add another notch to the win column this week as they host Baylor. According to ESPN BET, the Buffaloes are a 2-point favorite for the matchup.

This bash the Sanders family is getting old. Shadeur is a competitor. And, those who think his actions were classless probably never played sports past 5th grade.
