Jaxson Dart has been fueling the potent Ole Miss offense to start the season, and he is getting recognized for it.

He already made waves in the team's season-opener against Middle Tennessee, completing his first 24 passes as he set SEC and school records on Sept. 7.

Because of that performance, Dart broke the SEC record for consecutive completions to start a game, previously set at 23 by Tennessee's Tee Martin against South Carolina in 1998, was broken. Additionally, the former Ole Miss record of 19 consecutive completions, established by Matt Corral against Vanderbilt in 2020, was also surpassed.

Over the course of two games, Dart achieved 30 consecutive completions, which is the longest streak in SEC history, as per ESPN Stats & Information research.

And following a strong display against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, the SEC made sure to give him some hardware.

On Sept. 16, the conference named him Co-Offensive Player of the Week after leading Ole Miss to a dominant 40-6 victory over Wake Forest.

Dart finished the night with 26 completions on 34 attempts for 377 yards and two passing touchdowns. He also contributed 35 yards and a touchdown on the ground across six carries, reinforcing his position as the FBS leader in total offense with an average of 408.7 yards per game. Dart leads the nation in passing yards per game at 390.7 and is one of only five active FBS quarterbacks with over 8,000 career passing yards and 1,000 career rushing yards.

According to the program's press release , with his two passing touchdowns, Dart moved ahead of Chad Kelly to become fifth all-time at Ole Miss with 51 touchdowns. Also, his run of consecutive passes without an interception ended at 177, which is the fourth-longest streak in the program's history, surpassing Eli Manning.

Dart has done well to earn the recognition, and he looks to maintain his momentum heading into Ole Miss' next matchup against Georgia Southern on Sept. 21 at 7:45 p.m. ET.

Who wrote this article? Middle Tennessee was not Ole Miss’s season opener. Do some more research before writing next time.
