Commanders' Dan Quinn Reveals Need For Jayden Daniels Improvement

The Washington Commanders sit at 1-1 on the year after a 21-18 win over the New York Giants and rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels is showing signs of improvement.

But head coach Dan Quinn wants more.

With Daniels' ability to pick up quick yards with his legs, in the first two weeks, there have been times when Jayden could have found a receiver downfield instead, and that is an area of his game that Quinn wants to see improve.

"Jayden's just going into his third game," Quinn said . "We had some ones down the field that we would've liked to have seen him take. Some of the ones even on the scrambles to remain a passer as you're coming closer towards the line of scrimmage to throw it down the field."

With Daniels completing 75.5 percent of his passes for 410 yards in his first two games, while he hasn't thrown a touchdown, he's also not turned the ball over either.

Along with that, he's also rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns with his dual-threat ability on show. But for Daniels to be the quarterback that the Commanders want and need him to be, getting better as a passer is job No. 1.

While his legs are a unique weapon, having the ability to slice and dice a defense will make Daniels an even more dangerous prospect, and that is what Quinn is alluding to.

With the threat of running wild, for Daniels to launch balls downfield will make defensive coordinators tear out their hair.

It is only two games into his career, but Daniels' upside remains huge.
