Patrick Mahomes Sends Strong Warning to NFL After 2-0 Start

The title defense tour of the Kansas City Chiefs is off to a good start after tallying back-to-back wins.

But it could be better, according to star quarterback Patrick Mahomes. They escaped the Cincinnati Bengals in the slimmest of margins, 26-25, on Sept. 15, courtesy of a walk-off field goal from kicker Harrison Butker.

Mahomes was 18-of-25 for only 151 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. It was his lowest passing total since their game against the Denver Broncos in October 2019, when he exited in the first half due to a leg injury.

In their season-opening win against the Baltimore Ravens, he finished 20-of-28 for 291 yards and a touchdown. That game also went down to the wire, punctuated by a nullified touchdown from the Ravens.

Mahomes, a three-time Super Bowl champion, acknowledged that they had to go through the wringer in their first two assignments.

“That’s two great football games we’ve played the last two weeks, teams we played in the AFC Championship Game,” Mahomes said in a report from the Associated Press .

“We’re going to clean up the mistakes, especially on the offense. It starts with me. And we’ll be a better team for it.”

The 29-year-old signal-caller has always embraced his role as the Chiefs' leader. Back-to-back mediocre performances won't cut it for him, especially since every squad is eager to dethrone them.

The Chiefs will go for their third straight win on Sept. 22 against the Atlanta Falcons.
