Steve Kerr Reveals His Angriest Moment Involving Draymond Green

Golden State Warriors' mercurial star forward Draymond Green had been suspended six times in his colorful NBA career.

Last season, Green was suspended twice -- first for his chokehold of Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert in November and a month later, for a strike on Phoenix Suns big man Jusuf Nurkic -- which tolled heavily on the Warriors as they failed to advance past the play-in tournament.

However, none of those Green on-court shenanigans infuriated Warriors coach Steve Kerr the most.

Kerr made the revelation on the "Dan Le Batard Show" on September 17.

"Well, there's a lot of examples," Kerr said. "I think that for sure, the Jordan Poole incident [was the angriest I've been with Green]."

Green was fined an undisclosed amount but escaped team suspension after he punched Poole during an October team practice in 2022. Nevertheless, Green voluntarily stepped away from the team after the incident.

A video of the incident leaked to the media. Before the punch, Green and Poole exchanged words, according to ESPN .

"Draymond and I are a lot alike in many ways," Kerr continued. "People probably wouldn't see that from the outside, but we're both kind of maniacal competitors and we've lost our minds with each other during games over whatever you know, disagreements about strategy, but he crossed the line with Jordan, and he knows it.

"He knew it immediately, and it made that season incredibly difficult for everybody. And that story has been regurgitated many times, but that's probably the time I was most angry."

The Warriors' chemistry cratered after the incident. They still advanced to the playoffs but failed to defend their 2022 NBA championship. The Los Angeles Lakers eliminated them in six games in the second round.

Poole was traded in the 2023 offseason to the Washington Wizards. Green re-signed for a four-year, $100 million to stay in Golden State.
