Kalen DeBoer on how Ryan Williams handles himself

Not many freshmen have made the impact that former five-star Ryan Williams has at Alabama after Williams posted another strong performance in the Crimson Tide's 42-10 win over Wisconsin.

In that game, Williams increased his touchdown total to four when he linked up with quarterback Jalen Milroe for a 31-yard score to open Alabama's scoring.

Williams is clearly different than any other 17-year-old who's ever stepped foot on a college football field.

Whether it's his podcast ability, big play potential , or charismatic celebrations, Williams is captivating the college football world and is well on his way to SEC Freshman of the Year consideration.

Head coach Kalen DeBoer knows he has something special with Williams on the field but also described what he sees from Williams off the field.

"The thing that impresses me so much about him (Williams) is the business-like mentality he has when it comes to football, but (also) the way he's able to balance it with a personality that is just fun to be around,"  DeBoer said. "(He's) loose when you have that time to be loose."

DeBoer knows that it won't just be all sunshine and roses for Williams as adversity is bound to strike, but the head coach is confident in Williams' ability to handle those situations.

"Let him be him," DeBoer said. "That's what I want all our players to be, but he's a joy to be around...He's just really locked in on what needs to be done for him to be the best he can be."
