Colorado's Shedeur Sanders and Miami's Cam Ward are two of the most talked about quarterbacks of the 2024 college football season.

More similarities aren't hard to find between the two. Both have used the transfer portal, with Sanders transferring to the Buffaloes from Jackson State and Ward transferring to the Hurricanes from Washington State. The pair have also been taught by the same quarterback coach dating back to the beginning of their collegiate careers.

While Sanders has been outspoken about his plans to finish out his eligibility at the collegiate level before heading to the NFL, Ward went back and forth last year on potentially turning pro before ultimately joining Miami. Sanders revealed a conversation that he had with Ward about the decision to college football analyst Robert Griffin III.

"I said bro (Ward), you got to come back bro," Sanders said on " Outta Pocket With RG3" ... "It’s just not even, it’s not in your favor in that way. So I told him and then I really got into it with him about that. Like I honestly stopped talking to him for a little bit. Like bro, you tripping bro."

Sanders believes there is a benefit to developing as much as possible before taking the next step to the professional level. It seems like Ward had a different opinion at the time. Sanders feels like Ward ultimately made the right call.

"So it was an honest conversation," Sanders continued. "Then he came back and, you know, everything's going to work out for him."

Ward has made the most of his opportunity as a senior, leading the Hurricanes to a dominant performance against in-state rival Florida to open the season. He has completed 73% of his passes for 1,035 yards with 11 touchdowns to one interception in three games. The Hurricanes have risen 11 spots to No. 8 in the latest AP Top 25.

Sanders has also left his mark in the young season, completing 70% of his passes for 999 yards with nine touchdowns to two interceptions. The Buffaloes (2-1) got back on track last week with a win over in-state rival Colorado State after falling to Nebraska in Week 2.

Ward and Miami will travel to South Florida (2-1) in Week 4, while Sanders and company will welcome Baylor (2-1) to Boulder for the Big 12 opener.
