Tua Tagovailoa's Week 3 Status Gets Hit With Eye-Opening Development

The Miami Dolphins were dealt a tough blow when star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion in their 31-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Thursday Night Football.

Given Tagovailoa's history with concussions, fans were immediately concerned for his football future, and there were quite a few folks calling for him to protect his health and retire from the game.

Despite that, Tagovailoa reportedly has no plans of retiring, and appears intent on returning to the fold for the Dolphins at some point this season. In fact, even though he suffered a scary concussion just days ago, there were reportedly whispers floating around the league suggesting that Tagovailoa could take the field for Miami in Week 3.

The recovery timeline for concussions varies on the severity of the injury, but the Dolphins don't want to take any chances with Tagovailoa given his history with head injuries, which is why they placed him on injured reserve shortly after these rumors surfaced.

Technically speaking, if Tagovailoa managed to find his way out of the concussion protocol before Sunday, he could have taken the field. At this point, though, the Dolphins want to play it safe with their star quarterback and make sure he gets himself fully healthy before potentially returning to action.

There's no doubt that the Dolphins are doing the right thing by placing Tagovailoa on the injured reserve, as it gives him the time needed to get fully healthy if he wants to play again this season, and it will be worth keeping an eye on his status over the next few weeks.
