Ex-Patriots Receiver Calls Out Team Hours Before Being Cut

Former 2020 first-round pick Jalen Reagor is no longer a New England Patriots following his release from the practice squad on Tuesday.

Reagor appeared in 45 games (24), starting with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Minnesota Vikings, before joining the Patriots practice squad in 2023. After making the initial 53-man roster, the former TCU Horned Frog was released in August before returning for a spot on the practice squad.

Hours before New England announced the roster move, Reagor posted a cryptic photo on his Instagram account, seemingly calling out the organization. The photo is often used to represent a misuse of a player's skillset or the ineffectiveness of a supporting cast.

The Patriots shocked the NFL world with a 16-10 win over Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals to open the 2024 season. The Patriots accomplished that feat with just 120 yards passing from veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett. New England came close to another upset win in Week 2 but ultimately fell to Geno Smith and the Seattle Seahawks, 23-20.

Through two weeks of action, New England ranks 29th out of 32 teams in passing offense (122.5 yards per game) with only one passing touchdown. It's unclear whether the Patriots' struggle in this area led to Reagor's post before he was cut.
