The Florida State Seminoles have had a rough start to the 2024 college football season. After being ranked No. 10 in the preseason, they have lost three consecutive games to unranked opponents.

This follows one of the best seasons for the Seminoles last season when Florida State achieved a 13-1 record and won the ACC. Their only loss came in a bowl game, which occurred after they felt snubbed from the College Football Playoff.

The Seminoles are facing major challenges with their offense. Out of 133 teams, Florida State ranks 126th in total offense, 74th in passing offense, 132nd in rushing offense, and 123rd in scoring offense. Additionally, the defense has not performed at an elite level compared to last season. The Seminoles rank 76th in total defense, 47th in passing defense, 103rd in rushing defense and 84th in scoring defense.

During "The Paul Finebaum Show," a caller claimed that head coach Mike Norvell is coasting on his achievements from last season. The SEC analyst disagreed and expressed his belief that Norvell is a good coach. However, he also stated that he thought the Seminoles should not have been ranked in the top 10 at the start of the season.

"It's not the same team," Finebaum said. "They had no business being in the top 10, as some pointed out."

The Seminoles desperately need a win to gain momentum going forward. They will face the Cal Golden Bears next, who are currently 3-0 with a win over Auburn on the road. Florida State also has three currently ranked teams remaining on its schedule, so it won't be easy.

However, there is still time to salvage this season and hopefully make a bowl game.
