College football is home to iconic atmospheres like Bryant-Denny Stadium, Beaver Stadium, "The Big House," DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium, and others. An underrated venue caught the eye of Rece Davis in Week 3.

Davis previewed the games from Week 3 and could not get over how incredible the atmosphere was for the game between the South Carolina Gamecocks and LSU Tigers in Columbia. On a recent " College GameDay Podcast " episode, Davis said he was "impressed" by the fanfare at Williams-Brice Stadium.

Davis had not been to a game at South Carolina since Steve Spurrier, the head coach in Columbia from 2005-15, was still coaching. He took the program to nine bowl games and had a record of 5-4 in those games.

"...I was really impressed," Davis said. "I had not been there for a game kind of since the Spurrier era when it was at its peak. They had some big games they hosted. They hosted Georgia. They had some big wins there, and I always thought it was a good atmosphere. It really felt like that was like a big-time program."

South Carolina nearly pulled off another upset in the Shane Beamer era in Week 3. The Gamecocks went into halftime up 24-16. After a back-and-forth second half, LSU eventually scored a go-ahead touchdown to make it 36-33 with under two minutes to go. South Carolina missed the game-tying field goal to secure an LSU win.

Beamer had two significant upsets in 2022. The Gamecocks beat the No. 5 Tennessee Volunteers and No. 8 Clemson Tigers in consecutive weeks to end the regular season.

South Carolina takes on Akron next on Sept. 21. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
