Apart from being one of the highest-paid players during his time in the NBA, Michael Jordan also made some serious bucks after he retired from the game. In fact, the Chicago Bulls legend has amassed an even greater fortune for himself after he called time on his iconic NBA career.

Every now and again, however, MJ takes a financial hit. This was exactly the case on Sunday, September 15, after it was reported that Jordan's 32,683-square-foot Highland Park mansion in Chicago finally went under contract after a long 12-year wait.

According to a report by Karen Jordan of ABC7 Chicago , the house appears to have been sold for $14,855,000. While that remains to be an insane amount of money, the fact of the matter is that this represents a massive loss for the six-time NBA champion. This is after Jordan initially listed the property at $29 million when he first put it up for sale back in 2012.

That's an undeniably significant difference of over $14.1 million.

It is worth noting, however, that according to the same report, the final price of the actual sale was not disclosed. The $14.855 million price comes from the list price when Jordan last brought it down back in 2015.

This means that it's possible that MJ may have sold the estate for a higher price. However, given today's economy, that does not seem very likely.

Whatever the case might be, Jordan has just liquidated one of his biggest assets, making him an even wealthier fellow.

According to Forbes , Michael Jordan, who is widely considered the greatest player of all time, has an estimated net worth of $3.2 billion as of 2024.

The house was not worth 29 million. If he updated the house, maybe. How many homes are listed for 29 million dollars in Highland Park? This neighborhood is not Beverly Hills, Carmel, San Francisco , Coral Gables, etc .
