Tim Tebow's Quinn Ewers Prediction is Bad News for Arch Manning

The Texas Longhorns are in an enviable position, boasting two elite quarterbacks in Arch Manning and Quinn Ewers. However, the time will come when Steve Sarkisian must make a pivotal decision, and he'll need to handle it with precision to avoid a quarterback controversy.

Manning took over for Ewers, who exited with an oblique injury, during their Week 3 walloping of UTSA. Manning completed 9-of-12 passes for 223 yards and four touchdowns. He also had a highlight reel 67-yard scamper.

It has all the makings of "quarterback controversy," but Tim Tebow doesn't think that Ewers will lose a grip on his starting spot despite Manning's emergence.

“I think Quinn is the guy, and you have an elite backup who’s going to be also probably an elite player, maybe a superstar, and I’m excited to see that,” Tebow said, per On3 . “But right now, I really believe it’s Quinn’s time. It’s Quinn’s team. But how fortunate are you that you have another incredible player right behind him?"

Ewers is listed as "week-to-week" with his injury, paving the way for Manning to make his first career start this Saturday against Louisiana-Monroe. Texas is a 44.5-point favorite for the matchup, per ESPN BET, and Manning will have a chance to put up another juicy stat line. However, Tebow doesn't believe there's a controversy brewing.

"Do they have the best quarterback room in the country? Probably with both of them," Tebow said. "Could Arch be an elite quarterback right now? Yes, probably. But I don’t think that you have a controversy.”

The Longhorns have a crucial stretch ahead to assess their quarterback situation before the Red River Rivalry against Oklahoma on October 12, with a showdown against Georgia looming the following week.
