‘College GameDay’ Facing Backlash for Week 4 Celebrity Guest Picker

With the “College GameDay” Crew heading to Norman, Oklahoma for Week 4’s matchup between the No. 15 Oklahoma Sooners and No. 6 Tennessee Volunteers, it made sense that country music legend and well-known Okie Blake Shelton was chosen as the week’s celebrity guest picker.

A former “The Voice” coach and five-time Country Music Awards Male Vocalist of the Year, Shelton isn’t shy about letting people know he’s from Oklahoma.

While much of the reaction to Shelton’s impending “CGD” appearance, there was a contingency of fans who believed “CGD” could’ve done better and they weren’t afraid to voice their opinions.

After he was announced on “The Pat McAfee Show” as this week’s guest picker, Shelton informed McAfee that he was both an Oklahoma and Oklahoma state fan — a statement that didn’t sit right with several people on social media.

“Garth (Brooks) was unavailable I guess,” one fan wrote .

“Yes let’s get the Oklahoma State alum,” quipped another .

“He’s not even an OU fan. What are you doing? By the way Blake, I like your music,” exclaimed a third fan .

“@Blakeshelton can you call in sick of something? No one in Norman likes you,” declared one fan .

“Wut? Is Blake Shelton even an OU fan? Where has he been all these years?” asked another user .

“Wasted opportunity good Lord what are you doing ESPN,” remarked another user .

The 3-0 Sooners head into Saturday’s game with wins Temple, Houston and Tulane, while the Vols and Heisman Trophy front-runner Nico Iamaleava are also 3-0 having run through Chattanooga, No. 24 N.C. State and Kent State.
