What is there left to say about Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani? The two-time American League Most Valuable Player made history again on Thursday when he finally made it to an MLB territory no one before him had reached: the 50/50 club.

Ohtani entered the series finale against the Miami Marlins at loanDepot park needing two home runs and a stolen base to reach the 50/50 mark. He crossed all the items on his list – and more.

Ohtani hit three home runs and stole two bases, finishing the 20-4 win over the Marlins 6-for-6 and with an eye-popping total of 10 RBIs. He completed the 50/50 feat when he hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning, which also got ex-MLB player Jose Canseco hopping on social media to congratulate the Dodger.

“35 years ago I created the 40/40 club,” Canseco said, reminiscing about his 1988 MVP season with the Oakland Athletics. Shohei Ohtani created the 50/50 club tonight. Congratulations to him, added Canseco.

While Canseco’s message was well-meaning, fans online took the opportunity to harshly remind him of his controversial past in the big leagues .

For context, Canseco admitted to using steroids during his active years in the majors.

“You created the 40/40 club? 40 cc of Test and 40 grams of powder maybe”

“I agree let's take the training wheels off and let him do steroids and join the 100/100 club”

“I think you meant to say that 35 years ago your pharmacist created the 40/40 club”

“Shohei is clean and you were juiced on steroids”

“No one cares about you. You did it while juicing”

In any case, Ohtani’s incredible season is truly deserving of everyone’s respect.

So far in the 2024 MLB campaign, Ohtani is hitting 294/.376/.629 with 51 home runs, 120 RBIs, 51 stolen bases and 77 walks. He also has an incredible 181 OPS+ .

it's amazing that the only guy who admitted to steroids and he's banned for life then you see McGuire coaching and treated like he did nothing
