After years of speculation, and even recent rumors of a move to New Jersey, the Philadelphia 76ers are set to remain in the City of Brotherly Love. And with that, all is right in the world again. Or is it?

Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker recently announced that her administration had reached an agreement with the 76ers for an arena in Center City.

Of course, most fans would be happy to see the 76ers remain in Philadelphia. At the same time, not everybody is delighted with the decision to build an arena in Center City.

But with the possibility that the 76ers could move out of Philadelphia, the city needed to make a decision and they did just that.

These days, a lot of people know Jason Kelce for being the older brother of 3-time Super Bowl Champion, Travis Kelce, who happens to be dating Taylor Swift.

But the older Kelce brother is a legend in his own right. He was with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2011 to 2023, winning a Super Bowl himself and making the Pro Bowl on seven occasions.

So, Kelce's thoughts on the 76ers' move are certainly relevant and he gave them during an appearance on 94 WIP . The Eagles legend said when asked about his preference: "I would prefer it stays in South Philly, unquestionably, and I'll say this when it does get built in Center City and all of these people are displaced at the end of the day, people are probably going to love it. In 10 years, all this is going to be different, and we're probably going to be really happy that there's this beautiful complex that was developed down there, and it's a thriving part of the city, but right now, I like, I really hate it."

Kelce made it clear on X later that he would support the Sixers building their own arena in South Philadelphia but is not happy about the way things have played out.

The 76ers' current lease at Wells Fargo Center runs through the 2030-31 season. So, that is when you expect the new arena to open.
