Texas Longhorns quarterback and third generation football royalty Arch Manning got his first start in college football on Saturday, September 21, and the results were a mixed bag.

The Longhorns won easily over the University of Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks by a score of 51-3, moving the No. 1 team in the nation to 4-0 on the season. Manning finished the game 15-of-29 passing for 258 yards, 2 TDs and 2 INTs .

Manning spoke with reporters following the contest who asked him how he would evaluate his own performance, and the 19-year-old redshirt freshman didn't hold back.

"Probably a C-plus," Manning said, per Max Olson of ESPN , "but a win's a win."

In a veteran move, Manning also took the opportunity to build up the players around him on one of the most talented rosters in the sport.

"Having so many playmakers around you, it definitely brings up the comfort level for me," Manning said. "We [had] a bunch of different receivers catch balls tonight. Just getting them in space and having them make plays is huge."

Manning filled in for starting quarterback Quinn Ewers , a junior who missed the contest due to an oblique injury.

It is unclear if Manning will start for Texas next weekend against the Mississippi State Bulldogs , or if he will revert back to his regular role of backup QB.
