NBC Makes Huge Announcement After Chiefs-Falcons Game

The Kansas City Chiefs narrowly defeated the Atlanta Falcons 22-17 in Week 3, a game that might've had a very different outcome if it wasn't for a missed call late in the fourth quarter.

With just under 4:30 on the clock, Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins threw a dart to tight end Kyle Pitts, who couldn't hold to the ball due to what appeared to be illegal coverage by Chiefs safety Bryan Cook. Even though it looked like textbook pass interference, no flags were thrown

Because pass interference is not a reviewable, there was nothing head coach Raheem Morris could do. After forcing a quick three-and-out, the Falcons had a chance to win the game with less than a minute left in regulation. Facing fourth and inches, the Falcons made the questionable decision to run a sweep with running back Bijan Robinson, which the Chiefs shut down to seal the game.

The Chiefs-Falcons nail biter brought NBC historic viewership numbers on Sunday Night Football.

On September 24, the network announced that the Chiefs-Falcons showdown averaged 24.8 million viewers across NBC and Peacock, making it the most-watched Week 3 Sunday Night Football game ever.

While numerous Chiefs games receive a bump in viewership with fans clamoring to get a glimpse of Taylor Swift cheering on her boyfriend, tight end Travis Kelce, the singer didn't attend the game in Atlanta on Sunday night.

Next week's Sunday Night Football matchup looks to be another blockbuster matchup as Josh Allen and Buffalo Bills take on Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4.
