Fans in Disbelief After NFL Star Suspended for Chiefs Game

After polarizing, late-game penalty calls ( and non-calls ) in consecutive weeks that aided the Kansas City Chiefs to victory, fans are getting increasingly loud about in-game treatment toward the defending Super Bowl champions.

On Monday, an off-field development added more fuel to the fire, just six days before the Chiefs visit L.A. for a Week 4 divisional matchup.

According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter , the NFL has suspended Chargers star safety Derwin James Jr. for "repeated violations of playing rules intended to protect the health and safety of players."`

Fans were in disbelief on social media, quick to point out how the Chiefs will be the primary beneficiaries of the league's decision.

"Oh one game? Just for the chiefs game? They don’t even hide it anymore," one fan commented .

"Suspended for the chiefs game. Convenient," another echoed .

"NFL loves the chiefs," added another.

"How much help do the Chiefs need?" somebody else wrote .

NFL insider Tom Pelissero shared a video of James' hit on Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth on Sunday that ultimately led to the one-game punishment.

The three-time Pro Bowl safety can be seen leading with the crown of his helmet while making direct contact with Freiermuth's head.

James, 28, is a former first-round pick of the Chargers in 2018 and had already racked up 21 tackles and a sack in three games this season.
