NFL Officials Facing Backlash for Crucial Missed Call in Bengals-Commanders

The Cincinnati Bengals hosted the Wahington Commanders on "Monday Night Football," a battle that went down to the final minute. Washington won 38-33 behind an exquisite performance from quarterback Jayden Daniels.

Despite most of the attention being on Daniels after the game, fans made sure to highlight one play that could have changed the outcome.

During the fourth quarter of the matchup, with just under 10 minutes remaining, the Bengals found themselves down 31-26. Cincinnati was driving downfield, looking to take the lead from Washington, but fans believe the officials got in the way of a comeback.

On an attempted pass in the endzone from Jow Burrow to Tee Higgins, the Bengals wide receiver was about to haul in a touchdown when a Commanders defensive back grabbed his right arm and pulled it down.

Higgins was unable to come away with the end zone grab, leaving fans furious on social media.

NFL fans reacted to the play, with many sharing their frustrations on the officiating crew.

"As a neutral observer, that was obviously pass interference. Goodness." said one fan.

"The league has a huge pass interference problem," said one fan.

"That was pass interference for sure, but it seems like the refs don't have their Chiefs goggles on today!" commented one fan.

"Bengals cannot catch a break on pass interference" mentioned one fan.

"That’s clear pass interference," said one fan.

"The fact that teams can’t challenge pass interference tells you everything you need to know about the referee situation." said another fan.

The Bengals were playing from behind for much of the matchup. They went into the locker room at halftime down 21-13. Despite being at home, Cincinnati suffered their third straight loss after previously falling to the Kansas City Chiefs and the New England Patriots

Burrow ended the loss against Washington with three touchdowns and 324 passing yards. Higgins struggled to find consistency in the matchup, ending the game with three receptions and 39 receiving yards.

Burrow's No. 1 target was star receiver Ja'Marr Chase, who recorded two touchdowns on six receptions and 118 receiving yards.

Despite the countless complaints from fans about a missed call in the fourth quarter, the Bengals won't be able to hit the replay button.

Cincinnati will head back to the drawing board and look to secure its first win of the season against the Carolina Panthers on Sept. 29.

The Bengals currently sit at No. 4 in the AFC North, having yet to play a divisional matchup this season.
