Stephen A. Smith Demands Cowboys Make Move For Six-Time Super Bowl Winner

ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith has called on the Dallas Cowboys to make a move for a six-time Super Bowl champion.

Amid high expectations, the Cowboys have struggled in their start to the 2024 NFL season. Dallas began with a 33-17 win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 1, but have since struggled.

They suffered a 44-19 blowout defeat to the New Orleans Saints in Week 2, followed by a 28-25 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in a game in which the score doesn't tell the full story.

The Dallas Cowboys have stars all over the field with players like Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, Micah Parsons, Zach Martin, Trevon Diggs and more. In recent years, many have expected the team to compete for the Super Bowl.

However, under current head coach Mike McCarthy, the team has yet to reach the NFC championship game in these past four seasons.

On Tuesday's edition of ESPN's "First Take," Smith demanded Dallas move on from McCarthy and hire Bill Belichick as its new head coach.

"All he's gotta do is listen to me," Smith said. "You're gonna have to go and get yourself, Bill Belichick. I know y'all think there's no way in hell that can work, that it can't happen."

Belichick and the New England Patriots agreed to part ways this past offseason after 24 years as the team's head coach. He is widely known as one of the best coaches in the sport's history. During his tenure, he won six Super Bowls in nine appearances.

Belichick is currently an NFL analyst and will continue making television appearances until the end of the 2024 season. He is believed to want to return as a head coach in 2025 .

Smith then went on to explain why this move would help the Cowboys. He stated Belichick would have the players way more focused than McCarthy has them right now.

"What's the one thing coach Bill Belichick absolutely positively abhors doing?," Smith asked. "Talking to the media. Let Jerry (Cowboys owner Jerry Jones) get all the shine. Let him (Belichick) coach the team. And let me tell you something right now, you're gonna have a whole bunch of brothers far more focused and prepared than they are right now."

Smith didn't stop there. He even went as far as saying the Cowboys would compete for the Super Bowl as early as next season if Dallas hired Belichick.

"You do that, the Dallas Cowboys are challenging for the Super Bowl championship next year," Smith added. "This season's a wash. You're not gonna win anything this season. But if you listen to me, Jerry (Jones), I'm telling you, before it's time, you're gonna get yourself a Super Bowl. Mark my words."

The Cowboys look to bring their record back to .500 in Week 4. They will head to New York to face their NFC East division rival, the Giants.

Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET on "Thursday Night Football."

They should have hired Marvin Lewis when they were looking. He was the winningest coach in Bengals history and took a terrible team and became a yearly playoff team, but they never won. But he was a defensive guy and they need a defensive guy. But McCarthy was hard to pass ip on considering he had one a Super Bowl.
