Stephen A. Smith Reveals Head Coach Dallas Cowboys Should Pursue

While Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones continues to insist that his team is just fine despite an underwhelming 1-2 start to the season, Stephen A. Smith believes they could benefit from hiring a new head coach—and he thinks his proposed hire could lead them to the Super Bowl by next season.

Despite having immense talent on the roster, the Cowboys have surrendered 72 points over the last two games combined, highlighting a glaring issue with their defense as they prepare for a Thursday night matchup against NFC East rival New York Giants .

On " First Take " Tuesday, Smith made it clear that the Cowboys won't succeed under Mike McCarthy and urged the franchise to pursue iconic former head coach Bill Belichick .

"I love my brother Jerry Jones. All he has to do is listen to me. You've got your quarterback, you've got your wide receiver." Smith said , "Now you need to go get Bill Belichick. Do that, and the Dallas Cowboys will be challenging for the Super Bowl championship next year."

After departing from the New England Patriots at the end of last season, many believed Bill Belichick would quickly secure a new job in the NFL , but that hasn't happened.

Nevertheless, he has made it clear that he still wants to be a head coach and is eyeing next season to make that a reality.

If the Cowboys underperform again this season, they could emerge as a prominent suitor for the legendary coach. However, it would create an interesting dynamic, as both Belichick and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones are known for wanting to have control. Still, Stephen A. Smith believes this pairing could work.
