NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal recently weighed in on the Caitlin Clark phenomenon in the WNBA. The Indiana Fever rookie has been a sensation in her rookie season, uplifting her franchise and the league as a whole.

O'Neal spoke about Clark on a recent epsiode of his podcast "The Big Podcast with Shaq." He dicussed the debate between Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese and Clark, explaining that they've both been able to bring increased popularity to the WNBA.

While O'Neal has been vocal about his support for Reese, since she played the LSU Tigers at the collegiate level, he took the time to give fans his review of the Fever star.

O'Neal mentioned that he recently went to go see Clark play in person. He thinks she "plays the right way" and credits her ability to be used as a scorer and playmaker.

While O'Neal has explained that he roots for Reese before any other WNBA player, he thinks Clark is a "great player."

"Caitlin plays the right way," O'Neal said. "I’ve seen her on TV and a lot of times we know on TV don’t really translate to the court all the time. I saw it. She makes the right play, every time. She makes her teammates better. She can shoot the ball. She’s a great player."

Clark finished her rookie season in the WNBA averaging 19.2 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game. She led the league in average assists and led the rookie class in scoring.

The 22-year-old led the Fever, a franchise that's been the beneficiary of the No. 1 overall pick in the draft in back-to-back years, to the WNBA playoffs in 2024.

Indiana capped off the season as the No. 6 seed in the WNBA standings with a 20-20 record. Indiana is making its first trip to the postseason since 2016 and earned the franchise's first 20-win season since 2015.

Clark, who was named to the WNBA All-Star roster in 2024, has proven to be one of the most versatile offensive weapons in the league.

She may have struggled in her first playoff game, recording 11 points, eight assists and four rebounds in a 93-69 loss to the Sun, but the rookie has only improved with time.
