Taylor Swift Strongly Defended by Whoopi Goldberg After Travis Kelce Accusation

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has been on the receiving end of a ton of criticism amid his slow start to the season. In three games played, the four-time All-Pro TE has produced zero touchdowns after catching just eight passes for 69 yards. While that isn't exactly terrible, that's well below the standards of the nine-time Pro Bowler.

To a certain extent, Taylor Swift has also been heavily criticized by supporters. For some fans, the blame has to be pinned on Kelce's girlfriend in that she's supposedly served as a major distraction for Kelce and his Hall of Fame career.

Whoopi Goldberg is having none of that. The Hollywood actor turned TV host clapped back at the naysayers in a passionate tirade during a recent episode of ABC's "The View." According to Goldberg, blaming Swift for his boyfriend's shortcomings just makes no sense.

“Grow up, y'all! Grow up!" she said (h/t The News ). "Stop putting this on her. Your team is fine, your team is doing well. Shut up!

“... It's insane. Listen, this is a guy who's doing movies now, he's doing television commercials, he's doing all kinds of stuff. He might have been a little busy, and maybe he's not 12 anymore, okay? He's still a viable player.”

On Monday, Kelce's FX horror series "Grotesquerie" premiered. This is the 34-year-old's stab at acting, which as Goldberg insinuated, may have been one of Kelce's off-the-field distractions.

Then again, Kelce was busy attending Swift's "The Eras Tour" concerts during the offseason, and he has been spending a lot of time with his girlfriend -- and rightfully so -- now that the five-continent tour has gone on hiatus.

Either way, the fact of the matter is that we're still just in Week 3. At this point, it seems premature to assume that Kelce is in a serious decline. Things could be different, though, if this slump continues through the mid-way point of the season and beyond.
