Miami Dolphins Made Telling Decision About Quarterback Trade: Report

Head coach Mike McDaniel said Tuesday the team has 48 hours to determine who would be their starting quarterback in Week 4 against the Tennessee Titans.

McDaniel said the Dolphins are open to adding outside help at the quarterback position while Tua Tagovailoa recovers from a concussion he suffered in Week 2.

It appears the Dolphins will not add outside help via a trade.

Per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Dolphins aren't plotting to trade for a quarterback with Tua on injured reserve.

"A trade for a passer doesn't seem likely at this point," Fowler wrote. "A source said Miami is 'not much into it at this time.' Keep in mind, all signs are that Tagovailoa wants to play again this season, and he's eligible as early as Week 7. Making a flashy move for a quarterback, potentially disrupting the loose timeline and plans of Tagovailoa and the team, comes with risk."

There's also a risk of the now 1-2 Dolphins' playoff chances being in jeopardy by the time Tua can return if the quarterback situation in Miami does not improve.

Backup quarterback Skylar Thompson looked ineffective on Sunday before suffering a rib injury in the Dolphins' 24-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. His replacement, Tim Boyle, didn't appear any better when he came in.

By deciding not to be aggressive in the trade market, the Dolphins are foreshadowing a reasonably quick return for Tua once he's eligible to leave injured reserve.

Football is a great sport!!! But it's only a game. The Miami Dolphins need to do the right thing here and help persuade this kid to walk away from this sport while he still has his health!!! The kids family should be really pushing this young man to walk away while he still has his health. Doctor's need to push this kid to walk away while he still has his health. The league must push this kid to walk away from this sport while he still has his health!!!!!!!! It's only a game son. My advice is to walk away from this sport while you still have your health!!!!! People don't realize how important their health is until it's too late and they've lost it!!! Especially young people, they say the words and go through the motions but they don't really get it. You can't teach wisdom. Retire son.

I've seen that play a dozen times and still can't understand how he gets a concussion. His helmet hits the defenders chest. I thought it would be a neck injury.
