Paul Finebaum Shuts Down Deion Sanders and Colorado Buffaloes' 2024 Chances

Despite the fact that they are not ranked inside the top 25, and are not currently projected to take part in the first annual 12-team College Football Playoff this season, the Colorado Buffaloes have been one of the most talked about teams in all of college football this season.

You can thank Deion 'Coach Prime' Sanders for that, and the attention that he's brought to what is happening in Boulder over the past two seasons.

It's not just the circus that is taking place off the field in Colorado that is drawing attention, but some of the play that we've seen on the field as well. Last week, we saw the Buffs win an overtime game against Baylor after a wild comeback led to a hail mary from Shedeur Sanders, considered one of the year's best plays.

Despite all of the buzz, though, ESPN's Paul Finebaum says that he isn't changing his mind on the Buffaloes in general this year. To him, they have no chance to compete for the Big 12 title.

When asked on ESPN's Get Up whether or not Colorado's conference title ambitions are fact or fiction, Finebaum was quick to say that he isn't buying the hype.

"I'm going to say fiction. Everybody loved what we saw, it was arguably the play of the year," Finebaum said on ESPN's Get Up on Wednesday. "The fact of the matter is that the offensive line can not protect Shedeur Sanders and I think we see that continue to be a problem as the season goes on."

Through four games this year, Colorado's offensive line has allowed 16 sacks, which ranks 130th in the nation. Though Sanders is one of the most talented passers in all of college football, he routinely has struggled to get the ball off because of a porous offensive line.

While the Big 12 may not be the strongest conference in the Power 4, it will be hard for the Buffs to make a run for the top spot and earn that guaranteed playoff spot this year.
