The Connecticut Sun crushed the Indiana Fever 93-69 in Game 1 of the first round of the 2024 WNBA playoffs. While Fever guard Caitlin Clark's been unstoppable during the second half of the season, the Sun held the rookie phenom to 11 points.

During the first 90 seconds of the game, Clark got hit in the eye by Sun guard DiJonai Carrington. While some fans claimed Carrington hit Clark on purpose, the No. 1 overall pick shut that narrative down on September 24.

“It wasn’t intentional by any means,” Clark told reporters with a laugh. “You just watched the play. It wasn’t intentional.”

One day later, Carrington made headlines for an all-new reason, as the WNBA announced the 26-year-old won this season's Most Improved Player award. Hours before Game 2 against Indiana on Wednesday, Carrington sent a strong message on the much-deserved honor.

She wrote, "click it or ticket, babes," which quickly drew over 6,000 likes on X. WNBA analyst Cindy Brunson commented , "Love this for you so much! Brava Your work in the dark, helps you shine in the light." Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese posted , "so proud of you."

During the regular season, Carrington put up career-high stats. She averaged 12.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game. The Baylor alum started all 39 games she played in, helping Connecticut nab the No. 3 playoff seed with a 28-12 record.

The Associated Press named Los Angeles Sparks forward Dearica Hamby as this year's Most Improved Player, who won out over Carrington by one vote.

While the AP unanimously voted Clark as Rookie of the Year, the WNBA has yet to announce the league's award for ROTY.
