NBA Fans React to Video of Jayson Tatum's New-Look Jump Shot

NBA champion Jayson Tatum turned a lot of heads when he showed a slightly new-look jump shot during a recent Boston Celtics practice.

In a video shared by Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe, Tatum can be seen taking 3-pointers with a quicker release. Apparently, the Team USA forward has worked on some "mechanical issues" this offseason, leading to the change in his shot.

While it's not really a noticeable change for some, others did see the tweak as well and quickly chimed in on social media. But not all comments were complimentary of Tatum and his new jump shot.

"Bro is out for revenge he’s going to go crazy this year," a commenter wrote.

Another one said, "Looks smoother def quicker release."

"Looked closer to his form coming out of college. With a quicker release and less ball movement towards his body. His rookie season he was knock down albeit wide open from three," a fan added.

However, a detractor noted that his "jumper still looks terrible," and asked why he can't "go back to his rookie jumper."

A critic added, "I don’t care how quick or not his release is. He needs to hit more shots. Not a great shooter."

"It might be a little bit more fluid but it looks basically the same lol He has this lazy/stiff leg thing he does, not sure if it’s because of his height or what but would rather see that fixed from a Fan perspective," a critical fan assessed.

It remains to be seen how the recent improvement will affect Jayson Tatum's offensive production heading to the 2024-25 season. Sure enough, though, the Celtics will need their best player to be even better if they want to defend their NBA title.

Tatum averaged 26.9 points on 47.1 percent shooting from the field in 2023-24. He shot 37.6 percent from deep on 8.2 attempts per game, however.
