Carlos Pena is a former MLB first baseman and top prospect who played primarily for the Tigers, as well as seven other teams including the Rays, Astros, and Rangers.

Now an announcer for Detroit in the broadcast booth alongside Jason Benetti and Kirk Gibson for the Tigers stretch run, Pena showed his familiar enthusiasm for the game amid Detroit's big win over Tampa Bay on Wednesday.

Pena's reaction to a two-run bomb from Tigers 25-year-old first baseman Spencer Torkelson went viral following the team's 7-1 win, which narrowed Detroit's magic number for clinching a Wild Card position to three games.

Pena almost pulled a Tony Romo in the broadcast booth as he appeared to predict Torkelson's big hit.

He said that Torkelson "had a bead" on a possible slider from Rays pitcher Manuel Rodriguez prior to his huge home run at Comerica Park in downtown Detroit.

"Somebody alert NASA," Benetti added as the moon shot careered into left field in a video posted by Bally Sports Detroit.

Pena hopped out of his seat, high-fiving fellow booth members as Torkelson rounded the bases en route to the Tigers' big win.

Detroit is scheduled to take on the Rays in the series finale Thursday afternoon for a German heritage theme game at Comerica scheduled for 1:10 p.m. ET.
