Erin Andrews Confesses She Apologized for Unpleasant Interaction with NFL Coach

By halftime of Sunday’s matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, the Dallas Cowboys had fallen behind 21-6 and needed to make some serious second-half adjustments.

As head coach Mike McCarthy left the Cowboys locker room after addressing his team, who were in a two-touchdown deficit, he was approached by Fox Sports sideline reporter Erin Andrews, who had the unpleasant task of asking him to account for Dallas’ woeful first half performance.

As Andrews confessed on her “Calm Down” podcast, she began the interview with McCarthy with an apology for what she perceived as a cruel way to begin an interview.

“In terms of a team struggling on both sides of the ball — that is where we kind of earn our money as sideline reporters and feel bad if you have a heart as a broadcaster,” Andrews stated. “Yes, it’s part of the job, it’s why these guys are paid.

“But standing in the hallway waiting for Mike McCarthy to come out after he addressed his team and trying to stop the bleeding on both sides of the ball in that Ravens-Cowboys game, I looked at him as he walked out and I said, ‘Coach, I am so sorry.’ And he goes, ‘Why are you sorry? This is your job.’ I loved him so much for that. He’s just so lovely and sweet.”

Whatever halftime pep talk McCarthy gave the Cowboys, it almost worked.

Quarterback Dak Prescott threw two touchdowns and ran for another, and the Cowboys closed a 28-6 deficit to 28-25 in the final minutes of the fourth quarter.

Dallas outgained Baltimore 273 yards to 149 and outscored its opponent 21-7 in the second half, but the Ravens ran out the final 2:44 of the quarter to hold off a Cowboys’ miracle rally.
