Commanders' Terry McLaurin & Jayden Daniels Connection Growing

A star was born on Monday night when Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels dissected the Cincinnati Bengals defense to an over 91 percent completion rate.

The plays that made everyone stand up and pay attention were the big 55-yard dime to veteran Terry McLaurin down the middle to setup one touchdown. And the other was an absolute clutch pass late in the fourth quarter, 27 yards on the dot in the back corner of the end zone in the face of a zero blitz for the final score of the night for the Commanders.

That connection is continuing to grow and can be deadly moving forward. On Wednesday, McLaurin spoke about the play and how he feels the trust between the two continues to grow.

“I think he and I have continued those conversations even from camp to Tampa, I think, obviously, you have to have some realistic expectations when you’re dealing with a rookie quarterback,” McLaurin said. “The great thing about him, is he has a great attitude, and he does a good job of keeping my mind focused that he’s going to keep coming back to me.

“I think I’m just excited to see how we continue to build off this going forward. Because a guy with his talent and a guy like myself who really wants to make plays, I think he’s going to continue to open up for everything for us, not just for myself.”

If Monday night was any indication of how this Daniels to McLaurin connection is going to be, the Commanders are in good hands and defenses better be on their toes.

They will test out their newfound combination on Sunday when they head to the desert to take on the Arizona Cardinals at 4:05 p.m. ET.
