The Kansas City Chiefs aren't playing their best football, but they continue to stack wins and head into Week 4 as one of five undefeated teams in the NFL.

While the Chiefs' offense took a tough blow after Isiah Pacheco, their No. 1 running back, hit injured reserve with a broken fibula, Kansas City quickly moved to re-sign Kareem Hunt, their third-rounder from the 2017 NFL Draft. After a week on the practice squad, Hunt was elevated to the active roster.

However, Kansas City is not finished fine-tuning their roster, and made the surprise move to bring back another familiar face before facing the Los Angeles Chargers on September 29.

Chiefs Digest's Matt Derrick posted , "TE Jody Fortson is returning to the Chiefs on the practice squad, per source. He arrived back in Kansas City last night and is in the locker room this morning."

Fortson signed a one-year, $942,000 contract with the Miami Dolphins in March, but the team released him just before the 2024 NFL season started.

The 28-year-old veteran, who credits tight end Travis Kelce as his mentor, missed the entire 2023 NFL season due to a shoulder injury. However, he still received his third Super Bowl ring with the team last year.

Fortson initially joined the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2019. After two years on the practice squad, the Valdosta State alum joined the active roster in 2021. Between 2021 and 2022, he appeared in 21 games, recording 14 receptions for 155 yards and four touchdowns.

Despite minimal playing time, Chiefs Kingdom was thrilled for his return. One fan posted , "Love that Jody is back. He has unlocked potential, hopefully Andy can find the key to get him involved." Another person wrote , "Would love to see him get another shot with the Chiefs."
